According to the researchers, seeing cute pictures of kittens and dogs is something that contributes - a lot - to improving people's performance in different activities.

Why does seeing a picture of a cat increase productivity?

According to the study published in the scientific journal PLOS One, seeing "cute" pictures - especially of puppies - is able to improve performance in activities that require attention and precision. The research was done with 132 people. They participated in three different experiments and were divided into two groups: while one saw images of adult animals and other neutral images - such asfood - others saw pictures of kittens and dogs at short intervals while performing some tasks.

The result showed that those who consumed cute pictures of pets had an increase in productivity of up to 12%. In addition, it was also possible to conclude that the images with more "cute" content helped to reduce the mental distraction of the participants.
